The goal of project Sasham Tejaswini is to metamorphose the women community to Tejaswini, a strong-willed woman who is much more entrepreneurial and aware of her surroundings. Women residing in the Azad Nagar slum area near Brahmand, Ghodbunder Road, Thane are the beneficiaries of the Saksham Tejaswini programme. Udaan Welfare Foundation’s project ‘Saksham Tejaswini’ aims to help women and girls realise their potential so that they can fulfil their dreams and ambitions. Through this project, participants are able to introspect and train themselves in skill-developing activities that will encourage them.
Saksham Tejaswini, introduced in April 2018, is like a Trishul (the divine trident; a weapon of change) identified by Udaan Welfare Foundation and Dr. Luniya. Like the three-pronged trident, the programme encompasses three-tiered objectives- health, education, and empowerment, which can build self-esteem in the socially and economically deprived.
The three-month programme is action-packed with each day devoted to the enhancement of one of the above three motives in the Trident. Every day there are strategically planned lecture series on various issues like the following:
- Habits
- Emotional Intelligence
- Outer and Inner personality
- Ambition
- Positive attitude
- Finance- personal financial planning
During the first batch of Project Saksham Tejaswini, we had once a week sessions on paper and cloth bag making. Staff from Paryavaran Dakshata Mannch helped these 22 women learn the art. For the second batch, we introduced a basic Beautician Course and trained 16 ladies. We intend to start regular Beautician course shortly.
On 25th October 2018, Tejaswinis dominated the stage of Kashinath Ghanekar Auditorium, Thane-west for the celebration of the 5th successful year of forever young Anandees. Every dance step of their emanated confidence.
